Loss of the MV Derbyshire in 1980.

The loss of this vessel, which was Britain's largest ship, raised the awareness for safety at sea.The ship went down with all hands in a typhoon, just 200 miles from its destination in Japan. The victims families refused to accept the official findings, blaming the Derbyshire's loss to human error. It was outrageous that they also had to fight a massive wave of indifference on this.Fortunately, they did prevail.
