The Bridge at Ramagen(1969)
One of my favourite WW2 films, based on the real-life battle by the US Army,to capture a German held bridge over the Rhine in the closing days of WW2.
The film is very gritty, although it's mainly fictional, but it was true that when the Germans attempted to blow up the bridge,it actually lifted the whole structure off its mounts, but incredibly, it came back down intact. The explosives the Germans used, didn't really have the power needed to utterly destroy the bridge. In doing so,the Americans were able to seize it,and it proved a priceless tool to defeat the Nazis.
There's an excellent documentary on the actual battle itself,so I'll try to post that here.
